The 2009-10 season basketball season is underway for Aquinas, and Fighting Irish fans get their first chance to see their teams play at home against Madison County on Friday, Dec. 18.

The Aquinas girls are off to a 1-3 start to the season under coach Scott Harrison. The Lady Irish are led by seniors Natasha Pokrywka, Molly McInerney and Christin Hayes, standout junior guard Cha'Kara Murray, and a talented group of sophomores featuring Shelby Mueller, Alli McInerney and Hannah Nieman.

The Aquinas boys are off to a 4-1 start under coach Bernie Norris. The Irish are led by senior center Garrett Pippin, senior guard Daniel Williams and junior guards Robert Turner and Brian Hill.

Madison County, which competes in Region 8-AAAA, features a pair of strong teams. The Red Raiders boys are off to an 8-2 start to the season, while the Lady Raiders enter their game vs. Aquinas with a 7-3 mark.

The Irish will also be at home again on Monday, Dec. 21, as they take on Region 4-A opponent Wilkinson County. Be sure to come out and support Aquinas Fighting Irish basketball this season.
