The Fighting Irish picked up their first victory of 2009 with a 14-0 shutout over GMC before a great home crowd Friday evening. It was the first career victory for first-year head coach Matt LeZotte.  Freshman Brendan Douglas rushed for 110 yards and scored the Irish's second touchdown — a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter that gave Aquinas some breathing room. The Irish had 240 yards on the ground, including 73 by David Mysona and 50 yards on 11 carries by Collin Oliver. Quarterback Dane Anderson completed 6 of 11 passes, with senior Garrett Pippin hauling in six catches for 95 yards. |
