Baseball Takes Hard Fought Win Over Fayette County! Print E-mail

ANDERSON COMES UP CLUTCH TO GIVE BASEBALL A WALKOFF WIN

Comments Courtesy of Scott Klosinski:

Dane Anderson drove a single to right center field with no time left on the sun on Friday night to score Palmer Douglas and Colin Oliver secure a 8 to 7 win and to keep the Aquinas Baseball undefeated.  The bottom of the seventh started with Aquinas down 7 to 4.  With two out and Brendon Douglas on third, Grey Klosinski coaxed a walk, and Palmer Douglas followed to load the basis.  Oliver hit a high chopper to third which got by the Third baseman to roll into left field scoring B. Douglas and Klosinski.  P. Douglas reached third and Oliver stood on second.  Dane Anderson took the Fayette County pitcher to a 3-2 count before lacing a sharp single to right center field scoring both P. Douglas and Oliver with the winning run.

That seventh inning drama would not have been possible however without the top seven heroics of sophomore Brennan Douglas who came in in relief in the top of the seventh.    With two on and no outs Douglas came in to shut the Tigers down and hold the deficit to two.  After walking the first batter, a texas league single gave the opponent a 7-4 lead.  That was all though, as Douglas got the next three outs leaving three runners on base.

Will Few’s bat stayed hot with his third straight two hit game.  The team has seven hits total.

The #3 ranked Irish are now 3-0 on the season and return to action Saturday at Aquinas field versus AAA foe Cross Creek at 4:00 pm.
