The Aquinas Competition Cheerleading team opened the 2009-10 season in successful fashion by taking home a second place finish at the Panther Cheer Classic competition at Lakeside High School Saturday, Sept. 19.
Coach Matt Slocum reworked the squad's routine and the Lady Irish had two days to practice the revised routine heading into Saturday. In the end, the Aquinas girls overcame adversity and posted the impressive runner-up finish against some of the area's top cheer squads. Congratulations to coaches Jennifer Matthews and Matt Slocum and the Lady Irish Cheerleaders! The Aquinas Competition squad returns to action October 3 at Jones County High School in Gray, Ga. |

The strong finish was quite an accomplishment for the Lady Irish, who experienced a major setback last week when senior flyer Molly Garren suffered a knee injury at last Wednesday's practice, forcing her out of the competition at Lakeside.Email the AD
